About the Cover
Radon causes an estimated 21,000 lung cancer deaths annually in the U.S. Despite available resources, radon screening rates remain low. This issue’s cover article used a socioecological approach to examine sociodemographic factors influencing radon testing behavior in Illinois cities and towns. The findings revealed disparities in radon testing based on race and ethnicity, income level, and attained education. To promote ÂÜÀòÊÓƵ health equity, the authors recommend that policies provide incentives, educational campaigns, and resources for underserved and English-as-a-second-language communities with a focus on multilevel interventions that address various socioecological factors.
